IBEW 611 was a proud host and participant in the launch of New Mexico’s HEAR program.

This New Mexico initiative, which is the Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) program, is the first of its kind in the US by allowing automatic point of sale rebates and/or discounts for energy efficient appliances, as opposed to mail-in rebates or vouchers.

With stakeholders like Senator Martin Heinrich, Deputy Secretary of Energy David Turk, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, Cabinet Secretary of New Mexico Melanie Kenderdine, and Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller in attendance to help launch this statewide initiative, this program is a testament to New Mexico’s continued cooperation between several entities, like the Department of Energy and many State and Federal Legislators, along with various other local officials and retailers looking to help New Mexicans.

The launch of HEAR is meant to coincide with and reinforce New Mexico’s other energy initiatives like the Home Energy Rebates program (HER), meant to help families with home improvement projects that lower energy bills and increase efficiency, and the Solar For All program.

All these projects and programs are essential for Local 611 because these policies bring us closer to a completely electrified, green power state, which means sustained electrical projects now and, in the future, as we become a leading state in the movement toward clean energy.
