This past week, IBEW 611 and SWLCAT A.J.A.T.C. proudly presented the Cuidando Los Niños organization with the proceeds raised through the IBEW-sponsored softball tournament held at the Albuquerque Regional Sports Complex back in May.

Everyone was all smiles and excitement, for this was the most successful tournament yet in terms of funds raised. The Executive Director of Cuidando Los Niños, Trina Jellison (pictured center left), accepted the check for nearly twenty thousand dollars from IBEW Business Manager, Alfonso Martinez (pictured far right), SWLCAT Office Manager, Janessa Alderete (pictured center right), and SWLCAT Apprentice Administrator Brittany Trujillo (pictured far left).

“It’s amazing for the IBEW 611 to be able to help this very worthy cause,” said IBEW Business Manager Alfonso Martinez. “We know there are moments when people fall on hard times and they just need a boost from their community, and that’s what unions are about, especially Local 611, banding together and supporting our brothers and sisters in the city and in the state when they need it.”

The tournament has run for 23 years consecutively in support of various local New Mexico charities. But for the last two years, Cuidando Los Niños have been the main beneficiary.
